There is no flat price for tree trimming. We price each job on the tree or area, its size, access and the work involved, confirmed in a written estimate. For a ballpark, Angi reports Tampa-area tree trimming running roughly $80 to $1,820 with an average near $464. Every project is quoted on site.
What do published figures say tree trimming costs around Tampa Bay?
Angi's Tampa cost page reports tree trimming running roughly $80 to $1,820, with an average near $464. It also notes two-person crews billed hourly at roughly $115 to $145 per hour, and arborist consultations at roughly $90 to $250 per hour. You can read the full breakdown at Angi's Tampa tree service cost guide.
Those are Angi's figures for the Tampa area, not our prices. I'm publishing them because most homeowners want some sense of scale before they pick up the phone, and nobody local seems willing to put a number on the page.
What we charge depends on your trees and your property. Pricing comes back to you in a written estimate before any work starts, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why is the range that wide?
Size and height do most of the work in a price. A fifteen-foot crape myrtle and a sixty-foot live oak are different jobs with different equipment, different time on site and different risk.
Species and growth habit matter too. Some trees carry a lot of deadwood that has to come out branch by branch. Others need shaping cuts in specific places so the canopy stays balanced.
Then there's how we reach the limbs. If a bucket truck can get into position, the job moves quickly. If the tree has to be climbed because of a fence line, a pool cage or soft ground, it takes longer, and time is most of the cost.
How does yard access change the price?
Access is the factor homeowners underestimate most. A gated backyard with a narrow side yard means everything gets carried in and out by hand. A standard gate opening can rule out a chipper getting close to the tree.
Pool cages, screen enclosures, fences and irrigation heads all slow a job down because work has to be rigged and lowered rather than dropped. That care is the point, but it adds hours.
When you call, tell me whether there's gate access and roughly how wide. It's one of the quickest ways to get an accurate number. There's more on this in our guide to preparing your yard for a tree service visit.
Does trimming near the house or driveway cost more?
Usually, yes. Clearing branches off a roof or over a driveway is careful, piece-by-piece work. Limbs get roped and lowered instead of cut and dropped, because there's a roof, a gutter, a vehicle or a screen below.
Open-yard trimming where a limb can fall clear is faster, and that shows up in the estimate. Our tree trimming service covers shaping and pruning, clearing branches from roofs and driveways, and raising low limbs over walkways.
One line we don't cross: branches touching utility lines are the electric utility's job, not ours. Contact your electric provider for those. We can handle everything else on the tree and work around what the utility clears. More on roof, driveway and power line clearance.
What about debris and multiple trees?
Hauling brush and limbs off the property costs more than chipping and leaving the chips on site for mulch. Some homeowners want the chips, and that saves a load. Say which you prefer when you ask for the estimate.
Doing several trees in one visit is almost always cheaper per tree than booking them one at a time, because setup, equipment and travel happen once. If you've been putting off two or three trees, it's worth quoting them together.
If you've also got old stumps sitting in the yard, it's reasonable to price stump grinding on the same visit.
Why cutting more isn't cheaper in the long run
Some homeowners ask for a heavy cut, figuring one big trim buys several years. It usually doesn't. UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County advises against removing more than about 20% of a mature tree's canopy or 33% of a young tree's, notes that large cuts stress trees, and cautions against pruning for appearance when it compromises structural integrity. Their guidance is at UF/IFAS Pasco on hurricane preparation for gardeners.
UF/IFAS also calls out over-lifting and "lion-tailing" — stripping the interior growth and leaving tufts at the branch ends — as harmful, and reports that properly pruned trees sustained less storm damage than unpruned or improperly pruned ones. The same caution applies to the "hurricane cut" on palms, which UF/IFAS criticises as over-pruning.
A stressed tree pushes out weak, fast regrowth that needs attention sooner and is more likely to fail in a storm. The moderate cut done on schedule is the cheaper plan. See how often to trim the trees around your home.
How do you get an accurate number for your property?
Tell me which trees or areas concern you, how close they are to the house, and whether there's gate access. That's usually enough to set up a visit and come back with a written estimate.
We offer military and senior discounts — ask when you request your estimate. Always There Lawn Care is licensed and insured, and we work by appointment Monday through Saturday.

Frequently asked questions
Do you charge by the hour or by the tree?
We quote the job, not the clock. The estimate is based on the tree or area, its size, access and the work involved, and it comes to you in writing before we start. Angi notes that some Tampa-area companies bill hourly at roughly $115 to $145 for a two-person crew, but that is their reported figure, not ours.
Is haul-away included in the estimate?
It depends on what you want. Hauling brush and limbs off the property is priced into the estimate when you ask for it. If you'd rather keep the chips on site for mulch, say so and we'll price it that way.
Can you trim branches that are touching power lines?
No. Branches touching utility lines are handled by the utility company — contact your electric provider for those. We can trim everything else on the tree and work around whatever the utility clears.
Will you give a price over the phone?
We can talk through what's involved over the phone, but the number comes after we look at the tree and the access. Every project is quoted on site and confirmed in a written estimate.
Do you serve Land O' Lakes?
Yes. Land O' Lakes is our home service area. Call (727) 557-6403 to set up a visit, or see our Land O' Lakes service page.
